Thallus is an experimental/electronic/beat producer from Germany. He released two projects through bandcamp; Between Head and Hand was released in 2010 and Belong was released in 2011. They are both awesome so we posted both.

Rise and the Solar Sound System aka Mecca:83 has released projects under both names in 2011. The UK producer’s sound and influence is rooted in Spiritual Jazz and Hip Hop. Various samples and reworks can be found in his material from artists such as Pharoah Sanders, Alice Coltrane and Jay Dilla. In his 2011 release “Messages” under the Rise alias he reworks various spiritual jazz records to give them a hip hop vibe but manages to maintain the energy and spirit of the sound nicely.

Prof.Logik an experimental hip hop producer from South Carolina delivers the raw Dust Fragmentation tape. Structured for a cassette tape release Dust Fragmentation offers dirty drums, raw basslines and lovely and lush synth work. The combination works beautifully like sweet and sour in fine cuisine.

Datahowler invites you aboard his spacecraft for an interstellar journey into sound. Focusing on themes of outer space and time, Datahowler’s debut solo album, Slowdrifter, is an adventure into 1950s science fiction aesthetics, updated with just the right dose of modern technology. The music explores a diverse range of sounds, paralleling the multidimensionality of space travel.
There is often a misinterpretation that producers cannot play their own instruments, however that is not the case here. Datahowler can certainly still flip a sample, but he did not want to lean on samples as a crutch. Instead he chose to play live instruments on Slowdrifter in order to properly communicate the music’s thematic elements. The idea that one could space travel and explore the unknown final frontier is a metaphor for how Datahowler chooses to explore sound and humanity.
