We feel there are huge similarity’s between the Avant-Garde/Free Jazz movement of the 50’s & 60’s & the beat movement of Today. As both movements attempted to break down, extend & alter the conventions of their original genres (Jazz & Hip Hop) & were never afraid to experiment & improvise to create something that wasn’t accepted commercially at the time.

This compilation is a dedication to American jazz pianist, organist, harpist and composer Alice Coltrane.

”She was central to the Indocentric/Spiritual jazz of the early ’70s and arguably the first instance of a female instrumentalist assuming a defining role in a jazz subgenre. She spent the majority of her life seeking spiritually in both music and her private life & shared her husband’s [Jazz Legend John Coltrane] instincts in taking great artistic risks to pursue a spiritual quest.” – Jazz Times

Via Bandcamp – “”To Gain Volatility” is a long-awaited debut official long-play from 22-year old german hip-hop producer Thallus, who is the one of the few young musicians in instrumental hip-hop music nowadays with highest level of creativity in his mind which allows him to convert each of his records into a new emotional piece with its own beginning and ending….In front of you 14 finished stories, 14 frames with its own sound and 1 year of the work over it…1 year of the life for the moment.”

Dexter Fizz a young MC from Maryland drops a lovely 11 track album entirely produced by German producer Thallus and is mixed by DJ SYLO. Dexter Fizz is an artist on KC.93 the  record label of The Midnight Kids Academy. Download “The Joy of Thinking Big” here.
