Via Cosmic Compositions

We feel there are huge similarity’s between the Avant-Garde/Free Jazz movement of the 50’s & 60’s & the beat movement of Today. As both movements attempted to break down, extend & alter the conventions of their original genres (Jazz & Hip Hop) & were never afraid to experiment & improvise to create something that wasn’t accepted commercially at the time.

This compilation is a dedication to American jazz pianist, organist, harpist and composer Alice Coltrane.

”She was central to the Indocentric/Spiritual jazz of the early ’70s and arguably the first instance of a female instrumentalist assuming a defining role in a jazz subgenre. She spent the majority of her life seeking spiritually in both music and her private life & shared her husband’s [Jazz Legend John Coltrane] instincts in taking great artistic risks to pursue a spiritual quest.” – Jazz Times

Quelle Chris presents 2Dirt4TV Ep2 “Niggas Is Men”. Put together by Quelle Chris with Cavalier and Fresh Daily; produced by Quelle Chris, Messiah Musik, and Sifu; featuring Tanya Morgan, Denmark Vessey, DJ GroWeyez, Chay, and Bwameeks; “Niggas Is Men” is a dusty, sharp cornered 13 track affair. A prelude to Quelle Chris’s upcoming Mello Music Group debut proper, NIM is a head-nodding, intoxicating journey through reincarnation, long tokes, the poisoned food supply, addiction cycles, and even hot & crusty hoes.

This vote goes up for discussion from the people/listeners…you fill in the spot.

Extra Lovely Considerations for #10 (keep in mind this is “hottest for 2013” not “best of all time”): Kanye, Gunplay, Riff Raff and a couple others we’re too embarrassed to admit.

Additional Thoughts:

We understand there’s an issue of naming MCs that might lack experience and others that might have a little too much. For Instance, we didn’t talk about Nas, Jay-Z, 50, Eminem, Wayne, Drake…We also didn’t go too far underground and mention cats like Quelles Chris, Underachievers, Flatbush Zombies, SpaceGhost Purp…

In conclusion We feel like there was a lot more to pick from when it was 1996 ///

Sir Froderick, by way of Philadelphia, Boston and most recently, the Pasadena area of Los Angeles. He is one of the top producers forging ahead with sample-based production in today’s brand new musical environment that’s put the producers back in the foreground.

His new LP, entitled “SUBTL WHOADI”, is the first vinyl release from Froderick on the (iN). The artwork made by Sir Froderick himself, was screen-printed individually by hand so that every single record has a unique and different design and colorway, printed by Texas artist Wingknut. The music inside the colorful jackets is somewhere between meditation and taking a vacation to the head-nod Olympics. Every cut on the album brings a different flavor with all of these songs being created with an original mind, some records and an MPC. Instrumental Hip-Hop that teaches history as well as inviting the listeners to move towards the future. And all of that happens inside the headphones.
