This is the fifth EP from artist N.O.M.A.D.  Like all of his EP’s, this EP was designed with the lucid dreamer in mind to aid in one’s travels through the subconscious.

I made this album about during one of those deep, dark, cold Pennsylvania winters. My homie Jim Agguzi played the drums, of all sorts, and went on these wild percussion trips, drumming all over the walls and metal pipes sticking out of the walls in the basement we were recording in.
We recorded about 3 hours of straight up drum tracks, all in short segments, nothing in song structure. After I chopped some of the drums up, made some loops out of them, I arranged them he Jim laid the Wurlitzer on top.
After that was done, I went back out to Humboldt County, CA, did my business, and came up with the tracks. Don’t really remember where all the samples came from, or which filters or EQs I use, which I get asked all the time, but that’s what I came up with out of it.
My friend way up there, Valerio, played metal/FX guitar, so he added the guitar over tracks, and it was born; TRON VOYAGE.

The track listing is in the story of some alien robot, going thru life, getting pissed his job is wack, quitting, setting off for greener planets, finding one, enjoying the pece it thinks found, reality setting in & life getting hectic again, and then his realization that life is life, wherever you go. You can’t escape it.

Prof.Logik and Ackryte team up for a lovely collaborative EP filled with dirty drums, lush melodies, spacey and environmental samples and dope synth work.

Abjo - Obrigado!

Welcome to Obrigado!: a brazilian inspired beat “mixtape”, full of released and unreleased beats of mine that fit in the category of beats coming from minha alma (my soul, for the natively english speaking folks).

This mixtape is my prequel to a long awaited, much anticipated, thoroughly contemplated KC.93/Midnight Kids released beat tape, which, still untitled, should be released early spring next year. Until then, take your soul (alma) on a ride and let this be your early reminder that another summer soon comes, and that this is one of many soundtracks to that summer madness…

– the midnight kid.

Swarvy, a beat producer out of the Philadelphia area releases the Remixes of the Shadows vol. 1 and vol. 2 EPs. This project includes remixes from; Mndsgn, Akryte, DTCPU, JoshHey, Sir Froderick, CHits, AshTreJenkins, Ichiro and more.

Red’ is Part 1 of The October Series, a trilogy of themed mixtapes from prolific 19-year-old New York producer RAJA (formerly known as InfinitiRock).

‘Red’ is roots music: a classic hip hop beat tape overflowing with jazz and soul samples and, as such, a deeply respectful nod to the origins of contemporary beat music in Madlib and Dilla. Featuring guest appearances from Brainfeeder’s Jeremiah Jae and Starchild of RAJA’s Guns of Kingston (GOK) collective, ‘Red’ bespeaks RAJA’s natural ability to bring creative individuals together in the pursuit of musical greatness.

Witch’ is Part II of The October Series, a trilogy of themed mixtapes from prolific 19-year-old New York producer RAJA (formerly known as InfinitiRock).

Sonically, ‘Witch’ departs from the sampled acoustic instrumentation of ‘Red,’ opting instead for heavy duty electronics. Distorted sub kicks and churning drum machines, swooning bass synths and processed female vocal exhortations are all juxtaposed with the characteristic fuzz, hiss and crackle of a beatmaker with a penchant for sounding tactility.

Color’ is Part III of The October Series, a trilogy of themed mixtapes from prolific 19-year-old New York producer RAJA (formerly known as InfinitiRock).

The piano acts as a thread through this album, centrally amidst in the emotional electronics of ‘To Be Alone,’ ‘Diamond Life’ and ‘Sara.’ Mouth clops and drumstick clicks are percussion on ‘The Storm,’ while low end sub dives sink into the listener’s skin like something uncanny. There’s also the upbeat teenage ‘Moon Rising’ and Shirley Abicair (via The Beatles) cover ‘That Girl,’ widening the scope of the release.
Ultimately, ‘Color’ aptly marks the culmination of The October Series, displaying Chester Anand the true artist, always behind and yet exceeding the sum of his tracks.

Via Bandcamp’s Best –

Berry Weight sits atop the slippery slope of a genre being diluted more each day.  Luckily, the international duo (one musician from Canada, the other from Switzerland) have dealt out some high quality downtempo trip-hop in Music for Imaginary Movies.

The majority of the tracks on this eleven-strong album are head-bobbers, taking the listener through fully saturated atmospheres, superbly crafted to satisfy those looking for a well engineered combination of electronic effects and real-world samples.  Though generally rhythmic in nature, these guys mix in a good amount of melody, courtesy of the lovely Astrid Engberg on three of the tracks.  Distinguishing this album from the rest, however, is the masterful clarinet work performed by the Frenchman Kledsy Jy.

This album is one to relax to.  Made up of some instrumentals, some lyric driven tracks, Music for Imaginary Movies strikes a comfortable balance between rhythm and melody.  Here’s to downtempo crafted by those who know what they’re doing.
